Now, you may be asking.. how could a 7 year old change my life? Well, as with all things, it's not that simple.
But for the sake of simplicity, it can be boiled down to one thing- realization. Bluey made me realize that I had missed out on so much in life, that our country is lagging behind in development and morals, and that our society is inherently flawed in the areas of parenting. It's hard for me to say this... but the Pearl of the Orient has lost against a 7 year old. We lost against a 7 year old.
Like, for example, the episode about the Creek (1,29) indicates that the creek has been that way for the past 30 or 40 years. Compare that to Manila. There is not a SINGULAR creek that has maintained it's condition for even 10 years straight. In fact, they've gotten worse! And don't even get me started on transit. Compare the 689 kilometers of rail in Southeast Queensland to the 533 kilometers of rail in the Philippines. A region of 3.8 million people has more rail than a country of 115 million.
In addition, siblinghood. Keepy Uppy (1,3) made me cry for this exact reason. I never knew it could be that fun! And yes, it has it's ups and downs, and the Heelers aren't indicative of every family on the planet, but there I saw how my life could've been if I had one. Instead, I have become chronically online with some depression and loneliness issues. It doesn't help that I'm the only teen in my extended family. The age gaps in my family are 7 years upward, and 4 years downward, which I think is insane. I essentially always have 3 options: Talk down and try to relate to modern kid culture, which I cannot do except for Bluey, talk up and end up getting called out for "talking back," or just get on the web and express myself, the way I want to.
That's it. Post over.
